S. Rahima Benhabbour, MSc. PhD.

Associate Professor

Dr. Benhabbour received a BS in polymer engineering from the Algerian Petroleum Institute (Institut Algerien du Petrol, IAP, Algeria), a Master’s of Science in medicinal organic chemistry at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD), and a PhD in organic/polymer chemistry at McMaster University (Canada). She is currently a tenured Associate Professor at the UNC_NCSU Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering with a secondary appointment in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy. Dr. Benhabbour is the recipient of multiple grants and awards including the Alexander R. Matzuk Award, the CRS Member of the Year Award, the CRS Young Investigator Award, the David Sokal Innovation Award, the BME Faculty Research Award, the Eshelman Institute for Innovation Award and many more. Dr. Benhabbour is also Founder and Director of Anelleo, Inc., a startup company using the innovative 3D printed intravaginal ring technology for unmet women’s health indications.
